CIMIC subsidiary Sedgman will build a two million tonnes per annum concentrator at the A$362 million Jervois copper project in Australia’s Northern Territory under a design, procurement and construction contract awarded by owner KGL Resources.

KGL’s 2025 updated feasibility study outlined a 10-year mine plan built on mineral resources totalling 28.95 million tonnes grading 1.76% copper, 24.8 grams per tonne silver and 0.23gpt gold. The company originally aimed to start producing 30,000t per annum of copper in concentrate at an average C1 cost of US$1.95/lb (after by-products) from the second half of next year but an 18-month construction and six-month commissioning schedule means production is unlikely before 2028.

According to Sedgman, procurement of long-lead process equipment and detailed engineering is underway.

“Sedgman’s appointment builds on its involvement with the project since 2017, having worked with KGL on historical testwork review, metallurgical testwork, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, value engineering, front-end engineering design and procurement activities,” the company said.

Sedgman managing director Grant Fraser said the company had a deep understanding of KGL’s development objectives.

“This early involvement provides continuity as the project moves into execution and positions us to deliver a safe, efficient and high-quality processing plant that supports KGL’s pathway to production,” he said.
