Epiroc has won what it described as a large order from Sibanye-Stillwater for equipment for its Siphumelele underground platinum mine at Rustenburg in South Africa’s NorthWest province.
Deliveries of low-profile loaders and utility vehicles for narrow-vein mining start in the December quarter this year.
“We are proud to support the Siphumelele operation as it starts to use mechanised equipment,” Epiroc CEO Helena Hedblom said.
Sibanye-Stillwater Southern Africa chief operating officer Richard Cox said the low-profile equipment would help the company unlock additional value from “existing ore reserves”, extending mine life.
Epiroc said it expanded its underground low-profile vehicle offering through its 2023 acquisition of AARD Mining Equipment.
